Feb 03 2006 Tonometer Calibration posted by: Bud O'Leary, OD We use it all the time, but how ofter do we check the calibration on that tonometer? During my lecture, 'Interpreting Ocular Hypertension,' people have asked me where to find the instruction for calibration. The instructions for calibrating the Goldmann Tonometer can be found in the Goldmann Tonometer Instruction Manual produced by Haag-Streit International. Click below to download the section from this manual that describes calibration (Appendix B: Maintenance). The calibration information begins on page 35; the English version continues on odd-numbered pages. If you want to see the complete instruction manual click on the link below to download.
UPDATE ON FLORIDA APPROVAL OF WEBINARS At their June 22 meeting, the Florida Board of Optometry agreed that any prior NGS live webinars approved by the Board would be acceptable as CE for renewal of a Florida license this biennial, which ends February 28, 2019. However, they decided to restrict the number of online CE in the future to 2 hours of controlled substances education and 2 hours of practice management. Since the NGS does not offer webinars in controlled substances or practice management, no current or future NGS webinars will be submitted for approval in Florida.
WEBINARS SUBMITTED TO MINNESOTA AND VERMONT The NGS continues to monitor changes in State Regulations that allow continuing education through live webinar formats. As a result, we have applied to two more states for approval of the NGS live webinars.
In Minnesota, new regulations went into effect July 11, 2018 which acknowledge interactive courses can be live or remote via a webinar, teleconferencing or videoconferencing; the NGS has applied to the Minnesota Board for approval of the October webinars. Vermont regulations permit continuing education programs conducted on-line; the NGS has applied to the Vermont Board for approval of the October - December webinars.
